CINE ZOO

Once upon a space, deep in vacuum times of outer sound universe, fragments of infinite memories were gathering, compressing, reaching a boiling point, creating a Big Sound Quake. It exploded and diffused memories in nano dissipated fragements, displacing them through space-time continuum. Cinezoo is on quest to find valuable fragments that will help them to rediscover lost scattered stories hidden within memories.
Cinezoo are dynamic duo, group consisting of video/sound artist/performer Joao Bento and sound designer/composer/sound director Vladimir Rakic. Aside from colaborating in differrent artistic disciplines (theater, film, game, installations), Cinezoo is pure musical project, investigating borders of sound storytelling.
Visual Music? Non – Music? Cinema for Blind? All that together and more? Or none at all?

CANAL ZERO
A fusion of electronic and acoustic music combining live performance and real-time analogue images. The music takes us on a journey through sound landscapes where the enchanted meets the real. Image is used as a visual and sound instrument. Various materials (machinery, scrap, paint, etc.) are transformed on glass, taking different shapes and colours. The three performers weave a continuous, discontinuous relationship, with the image as a sculptural element of sound, and sound a component of image.
João Bento, Rodolfo Pimenta and David Leitão are responsible for Canal Zero, seeking to experiment with sound and image. It was first performed in 2004 by João Bento and João Cabaço.

The process has been developed since the first presentation/live act at Cinema S.Jorge (Lisbon) in 2004. An invitation for the Monstra Festival - Internacional animation cinema screenning of Lisbon to give voice to the first cartoons turned into film,by the director Emil Cohl. Live act performs have been presented from own experimental films and other Portuguese directors in and outside the country, including: Ó da Guarda - New Music Festival, Municipal Theatre of Guarda; Centa (Center for Studies on New Artistic Trends), Tojeira, Vila Velha de Rodão; Imago Youth Film International Festival, Fundão; Casablanca Cinema, Barcelona; Sttutgard Winter Film, Stuttgart; Bomba Suicida Studio, Lisbon; Passos Manuel Cinema, Oporto, Maria Matos Theater, Lisbon; First Festival, Caldas da Rainha; Super Stereo Demonstration, Linhares da Beira; Curvo Semedo Theater, Montemor-o-Novo; Culturgest, Lisbon; Serralves em Festa, Oporto; Espaço do Tempo, Montemor-o-Novo; Planshister Festival, Moagem - Cidade do Engenho e das Artes, Fundão. Winners of the contest Serralves em Festa 2009, Oporto and participation on television program Km0 in RTP2. Since 2010, associated artists in permanent creative research at Espaço do Tempo - Trandisciplinar Arts Center, Montemor-o-Novo, Portugal.
